About the role
You will design and build APIs, integrations and data systems. You will keep them secure, fast, well tested and easy for others to maintain, and connect our products with business systems such as ERPNext.
What you will do
- Design and build versioned REST APIs
- Integrate business systems and external services
- Model data and write safe database migrations
- Write unit, integration and security tests
- Monitor, profile and improve performance
- Review code and document services clearly
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of backend development
- Production TypeScript (Node.js) or Python
- Advanced SQL and schema design in PostgreSQL or MariaDB
- APIs built to OWASP API Security Top 10
- A GitHub profile or code samples of APIs you built
- Unit and integration testing in CI
- English at CEFR C1 or above (IELTS 7.0 or equivalent)
Expert knowledge
- API design: versioning, idempotency, pagination and consistent error models
- Concurrency and consistency: transactions, locking, race conditions and safe retries
- Distributed systems: queues, at-least-once delivery and eventual consistency
- Profiling and tuning: query plans, connection pooling and caching strategies
Preferred qualifications
- ERPNext or Frappe Framework development
- Queues and caching (Redis, RabbitMQ)
- Billing or payments systems (PCI DSS awareness)
- Open-source contributions
