About the role
You will run production databases for client systems and for our own platforms, including ERPNext on MariaDB. You will own performance, high availability, backups, security and upgrades.
What you will do
- Install, configure and upgrade PostgreSQL, MariaDB and SQL Server
- Tune queries, indexes and server settings
- Run replication, high availability and failover
- Run backups and point-in-time recovery, and test restores
- Secure databases: access control, encryption and auditing
- Plan capacity and support developers with schema design
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years administering production databases
- Expert PostgreSQL or MariaDB/MySQL administration
- Replication and high availability in production (Patroni, Galera or Always On)
- Point-in-time recovery you have designed and tested
- Linux administration and scripting
- English at CEFR C1 or above (IELTS 7.0 or equivalent)
Expert knowledge
- Query optimisation: execution plans, index design, statistics and lock contention
- MVCC internals, vacuum and bloat management (PostgreSQL) or InnoDB internals (MariaDB)
- High availability: synchronous and asynchronous replication, split-brain prevention
- Database security: least privilege, encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging
Preferred qualifications
- Microsoft Azure Database Administrator (DP-300)
- EDB PostgreSQL certification
- ERPNext and MariaDB performance
- Database monitoring with pg_stat_statements or Percona tools
